Social media gifs & animation work

TARGET AUDIENCE

◆   Younger generation

◆   Online audience

◆   Businesses and organizations

BRIEF & GOAL

Social media is a powerful platform and tool to observe and participate in social issues and trends on a broader scale. As a human-centered designer, it’s important to interpret the extrinsic and intrinsic influences and experiences that affect people’s needs and desires as individuals or as a community.

Create an online presence that can engage and express powerful messages to connect people and businesses.

Short gifs and animations on Instagram can be an effective way to engage and effectively connect with an audience.

This frame-by-frame animation encourages people to adopt rescued pets rather than purchasing animals from pet stores and breeders. The narrative is to encourage people to embrace meaningful friendships from unexpected places.

Urbanization

URBANIZATION

Directed by Dermot Mac Cormack

TARGET AUDIENCE

◆   Environmentalists

◆   Economists

◆   Health-conscious young adults

◆   Students and adults

BRIEF & GOAL

Urbanization is a featured interactive exhibition at the Mammal Museum. It explores urgent health, environment, and economic issues that stem from rapid urban growth and expansion in less developed countries around the world.

The goal is to display information in a clear and engaging way. It also serves as a call for participants to take action.

CHALLENGE

The exhibit’s interactive devices and app need to provide heavy data and global statistics balanced with visuals about affected regions in a clean and eloquent manner to incite people to act.

SOLUTION

Visitors can experience the newest trend for AR technology. The projection will display numerical data, information about the building, location, and other informative statistics from infrastructures all around the world. Its layout is designed to instruct users and then lead them to act after obtaining a sufficient understanding of the multifaceted threat.

The finalized logo was an amalgamate of ideas to visualize a story using bar graphs, buildings, and an upward pointing arrow to illustrate a sharp increase in numbers of infrastructure.

Promotional posters are displayed to create intrigue and to draw people into the exhibit.

The book gives readers a short summary of the varying economic, health, and environmental effects of rapid urbanization in various developing countries in parts of Africa, South America, and Asia.

Users can navigate the world map to familiarize themselves about a specific country’s city and population growth.

A visitor’s exhibition experience and journey centers around the Urbanization app.

Wired

WIRED
THE GAMING OLYMPICS

Directed by Scott Laserow

TARGET AUDIENCE

◆   Cross-generation of gamers

◆   Competitive esports players and community

BRIEF & GOAL

The IOC, International Olympic Committee, has been discussing the possibility of integrating esports, electronic sports, into the Olympics to engage younger generations. Adding esports would open up new revenues with billions in profits from sponsorships and welcoming new audiences of over 320 million globally.

Create an exciting brand for an Olympic event that brings people together from different disciplines, communities, cultures, and generations.

CHALLENGE

An issue arises when a fast-pace and highly fragmented sector such as esports incorporates itself into a steady-going and well-established giant institution with a complex infrastructure.

The challenge is to create a feasible brand that showcases esports as a viable and thriving official event in spite of the internal and external divisive factors.

SOLUTION

The brand embraces technological trends with retro gaming aesthetics to shorten the gap between generations. Merging customs from traditional sports and gaming culture bring more people together and engage people online in a way that hasn’t been done before.

The mark embodies the spirit of the Olympics and gaming culture by combining the Olympic rings with four directional buttons on a gaming controller. The font I used for “wired” imitates the electronic cables and cords from a gaming setup.

This promotional poster is reminiscent of fighting games back in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The aesthetics were heavily inspired by gaming visual effects and interfaces.

I broke the monotony of athletic team uniforms that were represented in previous e-sport events by playing with the composition of content.

It was imperative to reference commonalities between gaming and traditional sports culture by including accessible consumables for social gatherings.

The responsive website features VR technology to the Olympics and offer the audience new experiences and accessibilities that are exclusive to virtual sports.

The promotional trailer is composed of clips and segments from the featured game trailers and footages of previous e-sport competitions.
